About the repentance
Teshuva תְּשׁוּבָה
The human, as a reasonable being and the creature responsible for his own actions, he/she must permanently think about his actions and reflect upon them. If a person apostates from the true faith, he/she has an opportunity to redeem his/her error. The way of atonement is called Teshuva תְּשׁוּבָה repentance, this means being aware of an error and the confession of an error. The confession of one error is not sufficient, one must constantly strive to rectify their behavior altogether - to repent in front of God for every bad deed or justice they have ever committed or any pain they have caused through prayers, good behavior and good deeds. The Holy Scripture informs us that God graciously forgives kapara כַּפָּרָה all humans who sincerely repent and that he does not remind him/her of former sins.
The above is confirmed by the following verses of Holy Scripture:
Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. (Eze 18:27-28)
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of iniquity his thoughts; and let him return unto יהוה, and He will have compassion upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)
Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: return, thou backsliding Israel, saith יהוה; I will not frown upon you; for I am merciful, saith יהוה, I will not bear a grudge for ever. (Jer 3:12)
By mercy and truth iniquity is expiated; and by the fear of יהוה men depart from evil. (Proverbs 16: 6)
He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)
